Stroke work · 60 ft lengths
Stroke and triathlon coaching
Breathing that fits the stroke, turns that carry you off the wall, and an instructor in the water to correct both.
Where fit swimmers lose time
A fit athlete can arrive with strong legs and strong lungs and still lose time in two places. One is a breath that interrupts the stroke. The other is a turn that stops the swimmer at the wall instead of sending them off it.
The pool at 88 Fulton Street is 60 feet long, so the wall comes often and turns get practiced often. It is 15 feet wide and about 88°F all year, which makes it a steady place to repeat the same length until it changes.

The stroke development list
Stroke development covers breathing coordinated with each stroke, flip turns, open front turns, drills, time and endurance. Advanced stroke improvement works through freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and side stroke, plus treading water, correct form and efficiency.
The instructor gets in the water and demonstrates, so you see the correction beside you in the water and not from the deck. Intermediate swimmers can book private, semi-private or small groups of at most 4. Every session is one hour.
Where the method comes from
The head instructor was an All City Swimmer and a water polo player for the City of Los Angeles. The AquaSkills method itself starts with co-founder Adrian Ginju, who trained at Romania's 23rd August Olympic Camp and qualified for the Romanian Olympic Swim Team.
Adrian is the origin of the method, not your coach: he is based in Romania and does not teach the New York classes. Swim team and triathlon preparation is offered to all ages. Text Lori Pailet at (646) 724-7024 to book the $98 intro class.
Every AquaSkills instructor is an American Red Cross certified lifeguard, with CPR, AED and First Aid. Text (646) 724-7024 or call (212) 206-6976.
